Empowering Women in Political Leadership: Scholarships Now Open

Introduction to Women Political Leadership Scholarships

Women Political Leadership Scholarships: Starting from May 5, applications are open for a transformative scholarship program aimed at local women political leaders in OECD-DAC listed ODA-countries. This initiative is not just a training program; it’s a journey towards fostering change and promoting stronger democracies.

Who Can Apply?

This 12-month training program is exclusively for women who currently hold an elected or appointed position in local or regional government. Eligible roles include mayors, deputy mayors, governors, and deputy governors. If your country is eligible and meets specific criteria—such as no local elections during the training period—then you may be the perfect candidate to apply.

Goals and Objectives of the Program

The primary aim of this training is to enhance political leadership skills among women leaders. Founded on principles of equity, participation, transparency, and accountability, the scholarship focuses on not only individual empowerment but also on creating role models for future political leaders. Currently, women occupy just 5% of mayoral positions worldwide, indicating a crucial need for programs that support increased female representation in politics.

As we approach the application closing date of August 4, 2025, we encourage eligible women leaders to seize this unique opportunity. Together, let’s work towards a future where women play a significant role in shaping political landscapes. For more information, visit ICLD’s official website.
