About the Umang Fellowship
The Center for Lifelong Learning at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, is excited to announce the Umang Fellowship. Aimed at creating joyful teaching spaces for school teachers, this fellowship also focuses on nurturing a joyful learning environment for students.
Fellowship Duration and Mode
The Umang Fellowship is a one-year, part-time program that allows teachers to upskill themselves while maintaining their full-time commitments. The program is designed in a hybrid mode, combining both in-person and online sessions. The in-person training will be held at the TISS Mumbai campus.
Eligibility and Application Process
This fellowship is for teachers who are passionate about integrating mental health and social-emotional learning into their teaching environment. Eligible applicants must have a graduate degree, be currently teaching with over three years of experience, and be fluent in English and Hindi. For those outside Mumbai, travel to TISS Mumbai for training will be at their own expense.
To apply, email reachtoumang@gmail.com with the subject ‘Applying to be an Umang Fellow’ and include an updated CV, a 500-word write-up on your motivation and project idea, and an NOC if required. The application deadline is September 15, 2024.
Fellowship Objectives and What is Offered
The fellowship aims to increase teachers’ awareness of the importance of emotional safety in teaching, equip them with skills to manage both their and their students’ well-being, and support the practical implementation of these learnings in their classrooms. Participants will receive training in applying state-of-the-art SEL frameworks, classroom management strategies, and personalized mentorship. Upon meeting attendance and program requirements, participants will be awarded a certificate of completion.
