The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan), under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, has announced the Post-Matric Scholarship for students with disabilities. This scholarship is open to Indian nationals who have a benchmark disability of 40% or more, as defined in the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.
To be eligible for the scholarship, students must have a valid certificate of disability issued by the competent authority as prescribed under the rules. It is important to note that only two children with disabilities from the same parents can avail the benefits of this scheme. In the case of twins, both twins will be eligible for the scholarship.
The scholarship is available for students studying in Class XI to post-graduate degree/diploma courses. However, it is important to remember that the scholarship is awarded for one year only. If a student has to repeat a class, they will not be eligible for the scholarship for that particular class in the following year.
