Scholarships for Top Class Education for Students with Disabilities
The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, has announced scholarships for students with disabilities. The last date to apply is December 31, 2023.
The “Scheme of Scholarships for Students with Disabilities” is being implemented to fulfill the mandates of the department. The scholarships are open to Indian nationals who have a benchmark disability, defined as 40% or more disability as per the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016. Applicants must possess a valid certificate of disability issued by the competent authority as prescribed under the rules.
Under the scheme, not more than two children with disabilities from the same parents will be eligible to receive benefits. In the case of twins, both twins will be entitled to the scholarship.
The scholarship is available for one year of study in any class. If a student has to repeat a class, they will not receive the scholarship for that class in the second or subsequent year.
