Arturo Falaschi Postdoctoral Fellowships 2024: Guidelines and Application Form

ICGEB (International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology) offers highly competitive Postdoctoral Fellowships in Life Sciences for scientists seeking to pursue postdoctoral research in a world-class scientific environment. This prestigious program provides fellows with a comprehensive package, including a stipend, health insurance, and additional benefits. Successful fellows may also have the opportunity to apply for ICGEB Early Career Research Grants upon completion of the fellowship.

To apply for the Arturo Falaschi Postdoctoral Fellowships, interested candidates should contact the ICGEB Group Leader/PI of their choice with a motivation letter. This step is crucial to determine the availability of laboratory space and to define the research project proposal, which is an integral part of the application process. It is mandatory to obtain a written statement from the ICGEB Group Leader who is willing to support the applicant’s project.

Eligibility for the fellowship requires applicants to be nationals of an ICGEB Member State. They should not apply for fellowships to be undertaken in their country of origin, unless they have been working abroad for at least the last three years at the time of application. Applicants should hold a recent PhD in Life Sciences or have a minimum of three years of research experience. Preference is given to candidates below the age of 35.

The fellowship duration is two years, with the possibility of a one-year extension. The monthly stipend varies depending on the location: Euro 2,000 in Trieste (Italy), US$ 1,590 in New Delhi (India), and ZAR 25,000 in Cape Town (South Africa). The fellowship also covers travel expenses from the participant’s home country to the ICGEB lab at the beginning of the fellowship and provides a return travel provision upon completion. Medical health insurance coverage is included for the fellowship duration, and all research costs are supported by the research group’s budget. Visa/permit of stay application and renewal costs are reimbursed, and support for participation in meetings and courses is generally provided by the Group Leader/PI.

Please note that ICGEB does not provide financial provision or administrative support for family members of participants. The application can be completed online, and only one application per call is accepted for each candidate. The closing date for applications is March 31, 2024.
