The Ms. Agatha Harrison Memorial Fellowship, administered by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, is a fully funded fellowship opportunity offered by the Government of India. This prestigious fellowship provides selected candidates with the opportunity to study at St. Antony College, University of Oxford, London. The status of the candidate during the fellowship is equivalent to that of a Junior Research Fellow at the University of Oxford.

The fellowship offers one slot and is initially tenable for one year, with the possibility of extension for an additional year based on the candidate’s performance. To be eligible for the fellowship, candidates should have a uniform academic record with at least 60% in their post-graduation and hold a PhD degree in one of the following subjects: History, Economics, or Political Science. Additionally, candidates should have a minimum of three years of teaching experience at the graduate/postgraduate level after completing their PhD.

The fellowship provides a comprehensive package, including a stipend amount of £22,063.00, travel allowance of £890.00, college lunches worth £2,407.00, high table dinners amounting to £679.00, and other administration charges totaling £3,930.85. The candidate is also provided with economy class air passage (both ways), and if the candidate’s spouse stays in the UK for a continuous period of one year, their economy class airfare is also covered. However, the candidate is responsible for the maintenance expenses of their spouse.

Applicants are required to apply online through the designated online application portal, which can be accessed via the public notice. The fellowship information is circulated to institutes/universities and advertised in leading newspapers. Only one fellow undergoes their study in the UK at a time, and in case of extension, fresh applications are not invited for that year.

The Ministry publishes all important information regarding the fellowship on their website, and shortlisted candidates are notified via email regarding their interview. The names of the shortlisted candidates are published on the Ministry’s website in the month of March.

The Ms. Agatha Harrison Memorial Fellowship is a remarkable opportunity for young scholars to further their academic careers and gain valuable experience at one of the world’s most prestigious universities.
