About the Ernest Solvay Fund

The Ernest Solvay Fund offers financial support to initiatives in three main areas:

1. STEM Education

The fund supports projects that promote and encourage scientific, technological, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education, with a focus on chemistry, physics, earth sciences, and digital education.

2. Scientific Progress

Initiatives related to scientific progress are also eligible for funding, excluding medical and pharmaceutical fields. Projects in this area should contribute to advancements in research and development.

3. Sustainable Development

The fund supports projects that address sustainable development issues, particularly those related to climate change, resource use, and the circular economy.

Applications for support can be submitted online through the provided link. The fund’s management committee will review the applications and select initiatives that align with the fund’s objectives. The results of the selection process will be announced on November 20th, 2024.

Eligibility

The fund is open to any non-commercial organization that implements projects aimed at promoting and encouraging:

  1. The choice of STEM education/studies among young people
  2. The engagement in scientific research and the environment
  3. Scientific and technological entrepreneurship

Projects must be located in a country where Solvay is active. Scholarships or fellowships for doctoral or post-doctoral research are not eligible, but congresses that bring together young people for educational purposes can be considered.

Timing and Support

The application period starts on November 3rd, 2024, and the deadline for submissions is June 17th, 2024. Successful projects can receive financial support of up to €10,000.
